File summaries and insights

The analysis pane answers a question the folder table cannot: what do these documents say, taken together. Tick one file and it summarises that file. Tick a folder, or forty files across several folders, and it summarises all of them, either as a table of rows or as six charted views.

The pane fills the moment something is ticked. Nothing else is needed to open it.

The header

A shared header sits above a separate content toolbar. Both remain available while results load, while files process, and when a selected folder is empty.

ControlWhereWhat it does
BackHeader, far leftClears the file/folder selection and returns to the project home.
File Library and selection countHeader, after BackNames the feature and counts the selected files, folders and pages.
ExportHeader, far rightOpens Export file summary.
Table / InsightsContent toolbar, leftSwitches views for the same selection.
Display fieldsContent toolbar, right; Table onlyOpens the column chooser.

The controls wrap in narrow panes. Your selected view, display columns and last Insight tab remain remembered when you return home and select files again. New users start in Table.

Choosing columns

The Display fields popover is headed Table columns. Three rows are always on and shown ticked but disabled: File name, Title & summary and Actions. Five can be turned on and off:

FieldColumn headingOn by default
Document typeTypeYes
PartiesPartiesYes
Key datesKey datesYes
Monetary valuesValuesNo
Legal metadataLegalNo

A note at the foot of the popover says where the choice lives: Saved for this browser. Your choice persists across visits.

The summary table

The table is one bounded frame that scrolls in both directions. The header stays put as you scroll down, the file name stays put as you scroll right, and the row actions stay pinned to the right edge, so a row can always be named and always be acted on.

Where a document gave nothing for a column, the cell reads N/A rather than sitting empty. Where it gave more than fits, the cell ends with a count of the rest.

Reading one row in full

The summary in each row clamps to three lines and ends with Read more. Pressing it, or clicking the row, opens the row in place; the control then reads Show less. The expansion carries the whole summary and every fact Judicio extracted, in four blocks: Parties, Key dates, Monetary values and Legal metadata. It shows them all, including the ones whose columns you have hidden, so hiding a column never hides the underlying fact. A date that carries an obligation is badged Deadline.

The legal block names its fields individually: Jurisdiction, Forum, Case no. and Governing law.

Row actions

Three controls sit at the right of every row: Open file in preview, Edit file metadata and Open document detail. See File details.

Resizing a column

Each resizable column header carries a Column actions menu with three items: Auto-fit column sizes it to its contents, Expand to reading width widens it for prose and then reads Collapse column, and Reset all column widths puts every column back.

While files are still processing

A selection whose files have not finished shows a spinner over Files are still processing and the line The document summary appears here automatically once processing finishes. Where only some are unfinished, the table renders and a strip above it reads 3 files are still processing. Their details appear once ready.

Switch to Insights

Insights turns the same selection into six tabs. Each one carries its own count once its data has loaded, so you can see how much is there before choosing the tab. Only the tab you open is fetched, and the one you were last on is remembered.

Folder insights: parties, dates, amounts and clauses at a glanceFolder insights: parties, dates, amounts and clauses at a glance
TabWhat it showsEmpty state
OverviewFive figures across the selection: files and pages processed, unique parties split into organisations and individuals, dates with a deadline count, the largest monetary total with the number of currencies, and clauses with clause types and defined terms. Below them, breakdowns by Complexity, Languages and Date range. No overview available
TimelineEvery key date across the selection, filterable by All, Deadlines and each date type, each chip carrying its count. No key dates identified
Parties & networkWho appears in the documents and how they connect. No parties identified
FinancialThe monetary values found, filterable by currency, with a total across the line items. No financial values identified
JurisdictionThe jurisdictions and governing laws the documents name.No jurisdictions identified
Clauses & termsA clause index, grouped by clause type with a count per type.No clauses indexed

A tab that cannot load says so and offers a retry rather than drawing an empty chart.

Exporting

Export opens a modal titled Export file summary.

ControlWhat it does
FormatAnalysis report (.pdf), Data table (.xlsx) or Data table (.csv).
File nameThe name the download is saved under.
Include citationsKeeps the citations in the report. Available for the PDF only.
The previewShows the report as it will look. Choosing a data table keeps the PDF preview and notes that the download is a data table.
Download original filesThe footer's secondary action. Fetches the source documents rather than a report.
DownloadRuns the export.
CancelCloses without exporting.

The same modal opens from a folder's Export summary…, which first resolves every file under that folder, and from Export on a single document's detail page.

Exporting is free

Nothing here is charged. Credits are spent when a file is processed, and never on reading, charting or exporting what processing produced. See Credits Explained.
