Exporting and drafting

There are three ways a strategy leaves the report screen: as a file you download, as a document written back into your File Library, or as a draft you carry into the Drafting editor. This page covers all three, and stops at the boundary: the editor itself is documented in Drafting.

Open the export modal

Export in the report header opens Export strategy report. The Export action on a completed row in the Case Strategy history opens the report with the same modal already open.

The modal is a split: the controls on the left, a live preview of the real document on the right. Nothing downloads until you press Download.

Choosing the document

The first control is Document, and it is a choice between two different documents, not two renderings of one.

Option	What it is
Strategy report	The full report. The default.
Crib sheet	The running order, speaking notes and authorities for the grounds you kept: the page you take to the podium.

The crib sheet is built from the grounds you kept, so it is only as useful as your triage. Work the rail first. See Reviewing grounds.

Switching to the crib sheet does two things: it appends -crib to the default file name, and it removes the two report-only options below, because neither applies to a one-pager.

The rest of the modal

Control	What it does
Format	PDF (.pdf) or Word (.docx).
File name	Pre-filled from the report's title. The extension is shown beside the field and is not part of what you type.
Include authorities appendix	On by default, on the strategy report only. Adds the full authority list, with its citations, at the end of the document.
Evidence pack (archived judgments, PDF)	Off by default, on the strategy report only. Adds the archived judgments behind the citations.
Save to Judicio	Footer, left. Writes the document into your File Library instead of downloading it.
Cancel	Footer. Closes without exporting.
Download	Footer. Builds the document and saves it. Disabled while the file name is empty.

The preview always renders as a PDF, even when Word is selected. A note under it says so: Preview shown as PDF. Downloads as .docx.

How the evidence pack arrives

The pack is a merged PDF of archived judgments, not an archive file.

• On PDF, the judgments are merged into the report you download. One file.
• On Word, they cannot be, so the pack downloads as a second file alongside the document, named after it with -evidence-pack appended.

If the pack itself fails, the report still downloads and a message tells you the pack did not.

Save to Judicio

Save to Judicio appears twice, in the report header and in the export modal's footer, and both open the same Import to Judicio modal. It writes the report into your File Library as a PDF rather than downloading it: pick the file name, pick the project and folder, and press Import. Once it lands you are taken to that folder.

Saving the report back into the library is what lets you use it as an input elsewhere: attach it to a Research question, or read it in a Document Review. See File Library.

The handoff into Drafting

A strategy report is an argument, not a document to file. Turning it into one starts in the Assistant.

The Draft tab

Assistant in the report header opens the Strategy Assistant with two tabs, Chat and Draft. The Draft tab is headed Draft a document, with the note Name the document (or leave it to Judicio) and add an optional instruction.

Control	What it does
Document type	Names the document you want. Leave it alone and Judicio picks.
Instructions	Optional. A free-text steer, for example a tone or an emphasis.
Draft	Generates the draft, streaming it into the panel.

While it streams, a Stop button sits in the bar above. Once it settles, that bar carries a Draft · chip naming the document type, plus two actions.

Control	What it does
Download	Opens Download draft: pick PDF or Word (.docx), name the file, download.
Continue in Drafting	Hands the draft to the Drafting editor.

Continue in Drafting is one-way in the sense that matters: the copy in this panel goes read-only, the bar changes to Continued in Drafting with the note This draft is read-only. Editing happens in the linked drafting session, and the button becomes Open in Drafting. The link persists, so reloading the report later still finds the drafting session. Pressing it again reopens the same session rather than starting a second one.

From there the document belongs to Drafting: revisions, tracked changes, versions and export are all documented in Drafting.

What Draft this section does, and does not, do

The rail's Draft this section action on a ground does not open the Draft tab. It opens the Chat tab and asks the Assistant to draft the submission section for that ground, scoped to it. It is a way to get a passage you can read and reuse, not a route into the editor.

To produce a real document, use the Draft tab and then Continue in Drafting.

Permissions

Generating a draft changes the run, so the Draft tab is absent for a collaborator with view-only access. Chat stays available to them.
